TESS-India Organises Familiarisation Workshop for State Resource Group
Bengaluru, December 8th,2014: The TESS-India team led by the Open University UK academicians in collaboration with Department of State Educational Research and Training - Karnataka organised a familirisation workshop for the TESS India State Resource Group (SRG)1, in Bengaluru, today. The purpose of the workshop was to introduce the final TESS-India Open Educational Resources (OER)2 to the TESS India SRG with a view to familiarise them with the structure and pedagogy of the same. This is an important step towards localisation of the OERs by the SRG.
The workshop was facilitated by the academic team from The Open University UK and the TESS- India country office alongwith state representatives of TESS-India. TESS India SRG members were invited to participate in the workshop to gain a greater level of familiarity with the newly available TESS-India OER, which have been jointly developed by the Open University UK and Indian experts, followed by a review from Independent Review Panel (comprising of Indian and International experts) constituted by MHRD. Members from DSERT, DIETs, Teacher Education Institutes and schools participated in the workshop.
At the workshop, TESS India SRG members shared their ideas and experience around how the TESS-India OER will be used within their state and how they could be incorporated into existing teacher education progammes in the state.
“The experience and skills of TESS India SRG members as teachers, teacher education experts, along with their knowledge of state-specific requirements, will be invaluable to ensuring that the TESS-India OERs are localised appropriately and are fully utilised to support changes in teachers’ classroom practices and hence improvements in student learning,” said CS Lalith Prasad, Regional Programme Manager - Karnataka, TESS-India
